Caroline Brevard School

Today I added a picture of what is known now as the Bloxham Building. It was Caroline Brevard Elementary when this picture was taken. I attended there in the first through sixth grades. In the second semester of the sixth grade we reported to the old school in the morning, and were loaded on buses and transported to the new school on Jackson Bluff Rd later that day. I can remember my Mother standing by the bus stop with tears streaming down her face as we rode away.

Tallahassee in the Sixties

I added a picture that was taken sometime around 1965. Many of you have probably seen this picture, especially those who enjoy looking at the State archive photos.

The interesting aspect of this picture is that I am able to identify some of the cars in it.

There is a 1963 Chevrolet Impala SS that belonged to a good friend of mine, my Mother's 1960 Dodge and the 1953 mildly cutomized Chevrolet that belonged to "Speedy", the delivery man for Bennett's Drug Store stopped at the light in front of the Courthouse.
